About 3D computer graphics

3Dcomputer graphics software produces computer-generated imagery (CGI) through 3D modeling and 3D rendering or produces 3D models for analytic, scientific and industrial purposes.

3D modeling software is a class of 3D computer graphics software used to produce 3D models. Individual programs of this class are called modeling applications or modelers.

Computer graphics, production of images on computers for use in any medium. Images used in the graphic design of printed material are frequently produced on computers, as are the still and moving images seen in comic stripsand animations. The realistic images viewed and manipulated in electronic games and computer simulations could not be created or supported without the enhanced capabilities of modern computer graphics. Computer graphics also are essential to scientific visualization, a discipline that uses images and colours to model complex phenomena such as air currents and electric fields, and to computer-aided engineering and design, in which objects are drawn and analyzed in computer programs. Even the windows-based graphical user interface, now a common means of interacting with innumerable computer programs, is a product of computer graphics.

3D computer graphics are often referred to as 3D models. Apart from the rendered graphic, the model is contained within the graphical data file. However, there are differences: a 3D model is the mathematical representation of any three-dimensional object.

3D computer graphics (in contrast to 2D computer graphics) are graphics that use a three-dimensional representation of geometric data (often Cartesian) that is stored in the computer for the purposes of performing calculations and rendering 2D images. Such images may be stored for viewing later or displayed in real-time.

Computer animation, or CGI animation, is the process used for generating animated images by using computer graphics. The more general term computer-generated imagery encompasses both static scenes and dynamic images while computer animation only refers to moving images.

Modern computer animation usually uses 3D computer graphics, although 2D computer graphics are still used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and faster real-time renderings. Sometimes, the target of the animation is the computer itself, but sometimes the target is another medium, such as film.

Course Syllabus

This Course will last 8 weeks and will delve into the following topics: Modeling, User Interface, Compositing, Texturing, Lighting, and Materials, This course is going to be exclusive to blender but there are a few concepts that can be seen in all 3D Software that you will learn.

Week 1 – User Interface & Basic Modeling

Week 2 – Modifiers & Intermediate Modeling

Week 3 – Materials & Textures

Week 4 – Scenes & Lighting

Week 5 – Animating & Rigging

Week 6 - Compositing

Week 7 – Simulations, Particles & Effects

Week 8 – Project Week

Week 1 – User Interface & Basic Modeling:

The first week of the course will deal with the UI and will teach you the basic controls for modeling and maneuvering yourself around the environment.

Week 2 – Modifiers & Intermediate Modeling:

This week will deal with modifiers, and how they can be used to speed up tasks and we will also deal with more complex modeling.

Week 3 – Materials & Textures:

This week will deal with materials, textures, decals, reflections, alpha, and more to teach you how to add coloration and textures to your models.

Week 4 – Scenes & Lighting:

This week aims towards lamps, lighting, and the environment of your scene in general.

Week 5 – Animating & Rigging:

This week will show you how to animate your scene and rig characters with bones.

Week 6 – Compositing:

This week will teach about compositing, how to change your scene’s look and add effects and bring life to your scene with nodes.
